Happy Birthday Frank!

Today marks Frank’s 30th birthday, and what a perfect experience we all had. I mean, Foodery? Standard Tap? Only a party for Kate would be nearly comparative.

I’ll have a 3/4 of a pint, please

Interesting article in the WSJ regarding bars using thicker glasses to pour less beer; this comes in the face of inflation pressure…. Read the WSJ Article here.

The new and IMPROVED Victory Brewery Restaurant and Pub

null

Three cheers for Victory!!!

The restaurant is finally complete (on time too) and the timing could not be better! Unnecessary to say the beer is… we all know how tasty and really well made it is….but the food, now that another story…..I have been stating numerous times to friends and family that the old Victory pub and restaurant tasted and felt like a blown-up version of the Moose Lodge or an FOP hall. Now you enter a real, honest to Jesus, restaurant with lots of attentive wait staff and plenty of tables. The décor is modern brewery sheik; they took old brew kettles lids and buffed the copper plates to provide a perfect brewery ambiance - charming and nostalgic…kudos to their interior design.
Now, the important part - the food. Needless it has improved. How improved? Burgers were cooked to exact specs, ingredients tasted fresh and the pizza did not taste like it did in high school (well it kinda still did, but trust me it was like prep school not South Philadelphia High). Anyway, give Victory a shot for dinner or lunch sometime real soon, it is worth your hunger and that is a real statement.

Victory’s Whirlwind Witbier

null

My last review of this beer over a year ago closed out with the following comment:

“It is a solid beer and nice addition to the Victory lineup; like an 8-8 football season.”

Well, chalk this one in the Wild Card position for the playoffs. A much improved Whirlwind Wit was tasted recently by yours truly. Before this recent tasting, this beer’s taste of yeasty, citrus, somewhat spicy goodness practically vanished in the back of your throat. An improved version has been created and is available at Victory’s excellent new brewpub.
There is still a fading, yielding taste that cascades down your throat, but (believe me) there is a more noticeable taste of the Belgian yeast and citrus carbonation slowly hitting your taste buds… Well done.
